How to remove QRemote from Startup

Problem Description:

QRemote Initialization Error.

QRemote Error: Listening failed. Please restart application

QRemote Closing in 15 Seconds.

Solution:

QRemote Server reports "Error: Listening failed. Please restart the application," usually because one QRemote Server is already running.

There might be multiple instances of QRemoteServer.exe running. Please refer to http://qodbc.com/links/2502/ for more information.

Solution 1:

If you are using QODBC build 340 or above, you can turn off the auto startup of the QRemote Server from the Advanced option.

Go to QRemote Server >> File >> Setting.

Solution 2:
You may use MSConfig and remove QRemoteServer from Startup.
Start >> Run >> MSConfig >> navigate to the Startup tab & disable FLEXquarters.com Limited QODBC.

Please click on OK to apply settings.

Solution 3:

In Windows 10 OS, the Startup program will be disabled from the task manager.

Start >> Run >> MSConfig >> navigate to Startup tab & click "Open Task Manager"

The task manager will open. Navigate to the "Startup" tab & Right-click on "FLEXquarters.com Limited QuickBooks ODBC Driver," & click "Disable."

If you want to re-enable QRemoteServer on System Startup, please enable "FLEXquarters.com Limited QODBC" from the above System Configuration.

For disabling Startup programs in Windows Server 2012 R2, and Windows Server 2016, refer: To disable Windows Server 2016 Startup Programs

Solution 4:

You can remove the QRemote startup entry through the registry, also.

Open Registry Editor & navigate to the below path where the startup entry is stored.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

To remove the QRemote startup entry, please right-click on the QRemoteServer key & click "Delete."

It will ask for confirmation. Please click "Yes" to remove QRemoteServer from startup.

QRemoteServer is removed from startup.

How to add QRemote Server on the Current user's startup

Solution 1:

You can add the QRemoteServer in the current user startup via the registry.

Navigate to the below path & right-click on the right pane of Registry Editor & click "New," & select "String Value" to add QRemoteServer in the current user's startup.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Please insert "QRemoteServer" as the name of the String Value.

In the value textbox, insert the path of the QRemoteServer executable file & click "OK."

For 32-bit OS:
C:\Program Files\QODBC Driver for QuickBooks\QRemote\Server\QRemoteServer.exe
For 64-bit OS:
C:\Program Files (x86)\QODBC Driver for QuickBooks\QRemote\Server\QRemoteServer.exe

The QRemoteServer is added to the current user's startup.

If you can't find "FLEXquarters.com Limited QODBC" in the Startup program list, please reinstall QODBC. After installation, QODBC "FLEXquarters.com Limited QODBC" will be listed in the Startup program list.

Solution 2:

You can manually add the user's startup folder who will be using the QRemote/QuickBooks.

Please create a QRemote Server shortcut: Start >> All Programs >> QODBC Driver for use with QuickBooks >> Right-click on QRemote Server for QODBC & click on "Send to" and select the "Desktop (create shortcut)" option.

Is terminating QRemote Server.EXE from the task manager the official way to stop it? Or is there some other way? Thanks!
